Prof. Dr. Ir. Mardjono Siswosuwarno was born in Solo on 17 May 1948. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from ITB in 1972 and obtained a PhD in Metallurgy from KU Leuven, Belgium, in 1978.
To this day, he remains a lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, ITB. From 1986 to 1989, Mardjono served as Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at ITB. In 1998, he was appointed Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, ITB.
Mardjono is a Member of ASM (the American Society for Metals), a Member of ISASI (the International Society of Aviation Safety Investigators), a Technical Advisor at IPTN from 1982 to 1998, a Technical Advisor at PT Pindad from 1991 to the present, and a Senior Safety Investigator at the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) from 1996 to the present: Aircraft and Railway Accident Investigator, and a full member of AIPI since 2009.
For all his contributions, Mardjono has received a number of awards, including:

• Award from the Chief of the Air Force, 1995
• Satya Lencana Karya Satya (30 years of service to the Republic of Indonesia), 2007
