Prof. Dr. Koento Wibisono Siswomihardjo was born in Purworejo, Central Java, on August 14, 1930. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Gadjah Mada University, in 1958, and then went on to study at the University of Leuven in Belgium. Thanks to his dissertation on the significance of the development of Auguste Comte’s philosophy of positivism, he earned a Ph.D. in philosophy from UGM in 1982.
Koento is a columnist for the daily newspaper Kedaulatan Rakyat in Yogyakarta and has authored several books. These include *The Relevance of the Philosophy of Science*, published by the Graduate School of UGM in 1984, and *Pearls of Pancasila Philosophy Bequeathed by the Late Prof. Notonagoro*.
He is currently a member of the National Research Council and a board member of the Indonesian-Dutch Cultural Foundation Karta Pusaka.
